About us
The Norwegian Climate Foundation is Norway's green think tank. Our main role is to provide evidence-based insight, rigorous analysis and new ideas for climate policy and action. We work towards a society with net zero greenhouse gas emissions.

About the Norwegian Climate Foundation
The Norwegian Climate Foundation was established in 2010 as a not-for-profit foundation based in Bergen.
Today, we run an extensive publishing programme. This includes our reports and policy briefs, as well as Energi og Klima (Energy and Climate), the online newspaper we own. On tilnull.no, we publish continuously updated data tracking Norway's progress on the climate transition.
We also host regular events for knowledge sharing and debate, and we co-founded Varmere Våtere Villere (Warmer, Wetter, Wilder), the largest climate festival in the Nordic region.
Rather than working in isolation, we aim to involve as many stakeholders as possible in our work. The backbone of our network is the Council, which brings together Norway's leading universities, university colleges and research institutions. The Council is chaired by Professor Vigdis Vandvik of the University of Bergen.
Our Board is chaired by Birger Magnus.
The purpose of the Norwegian Climate Foundation is defined in its statutes as follows:
«The Foundation's public-benefit purpose is, through its own activities – including the dissemination of knowledge and proposals from recognised knowledge institutions – to contribute to measures, both public and private, that lead to a rapid reduction and cessation of anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions. Equally, the Foundation may work towards measures that lessen the harmful effects of climate change that has already occurred or will occur in the future. The Foundation shall also promote awareness-raising efforts for a better climate and environment. The Foundation shall not have commercial gain as its purpose.»
